How do I know the path to take? God will direct my path along the way.
Get Your Appointed Time
The Lordâs time is not our time. The Lord does not see time as we see it in years, days of the week, morning and evening, and incremental minutes. Time is limitless. The Word says, âA day to God is a thousand years,â (Second Peter 3:8, NASB). We look at God through our human form on this Earth. We limit the span of time that God creates, and we try very desperately to put God in a box. Now I know this concept is hard to really grasp or figure out through our humanness, but the appointed time God has for everything is not the definition of time we may be thinking. When God told Abraham, he would be the father of many nations, Abraham had no children. Genesis 18:14, NASB says, âIs anything too hard for the Lord? At the appointed time I will return to you, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.â
In his waiting Abraham was human. He reminded himself of how old he and his wife Sarah were and figured, âlet me see if I can make this happen.â Have you ever tried to make it happen in your own strength? I am guilty of doing this; I like to get things going. There is a cost in pushing things along before the appointed time. Sometimes it may delay your future or give you even bigger problems to contend with. I do know from my own experiences of moving ahead of God there is something to pay for our own impatience. Because even though I know God, I have dishonored Him by putting my plans before what He has planned. When I have done this, I am saying I know better than God, my Creator. It is difficult to make a comeback from impatience and moving out of Godâs timing; some damage may remain. Waiting for Godâs appointed time produces abundance, fruit, and joy. What God has for us is not necessarily easy, but there is no sorrow in it (Proverbs 10:22, NASB).
So, let us get to knowing this appointed time. Here are steps to be mindful of when you have decided this is that time:
Step 1: You will begin trying to logically figure out how is God going to do something. This is the first sign of you entertaining false imaginations. Your mind starts to get busy, preoccupied with how to make this plan work. The scripture warns us about these vain imaginations. Romans 1:21 (NJKV), says ââ¦because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.â Stop right here, hold your thoughts captive, surrender to Godâs will and be obedient to His Plan. Psalm 18:30 (NKJV) reminds us, âAs for God, His way is perfect; The Word of the Lord is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him.
